New Wave Helping Hands was founded in 2017 by George Schiaffino, a man driven by a deep-seated belief in giving back to those who need it the most. George's commitment to community service has been a lifelong passion, but it was a life-altering event in 2012 that catalyzed the creation of this impactful organization.

George's commitment to community service has been a lifelong passion, but it was a life-altering event in 2012 that catalyzed the creation of this impactful organization.
In 2012, George experienced a devastating accident when a powerful wave struck him, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down with a severe spinal cord injury. The journey to recovery was arduous, involving numerous operations and years of intensive rehabilitation. During this challenging period, George often felt helpless and uncertain about his future, fearing he might never walk again.
However, this period of adversity also brought a profound realization. George's personal struggle with helplessness and the long road to recovery deepened his empathy for others facing hardship. He recognized that his innate desire to give back now needed to take on a new, more profound dimension.
Inspired by his transformative experience, George founded New Wave Helping Hands. The name "New Wave" symbolizes the wave that irrevocably changed his life, serving as a poignant reminder that even the most devastating events can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
